Project Summary:
These days people are surrounded by Electronic Devices. You can find them in each home, office, every pocket, around your neck or on your ears and wrest, and almost everywhere.
Due to the high volume of requests for Electronic Devices, there are lots of small and big Companies that want to have a portion of this market. Because of various Stores and Websites, finding the right product with the cheapest price is harder than ever for the customers.
In this case, we want to help the customers have the easiest way to find the right product for their purpose of use and at the cheapest price.
Problems:
- Finding the cheapest price for the Electronic Devices on the market
- Notice of price down for a product that customer has planned to buy in the near future
- Checking the weekly and seasonal Deals and Sales of the different companies without signup and getting tuns of emails every day
Solutions:
Making an app that gives the customers the best market price for their desired Electronic Device which the customer can either buy directly from the cheapest retail or via asking for Price Match at the current retail knowing the cheapest price.
Research:
To better understand our target market and the best way to help our customers, we provide a questionnaire and ask random people to answer these questions.
- Do you use an online shop or store to buy your Electronic Devices?
- How many Electronic Devices do you buy during a year?
- How do you usually collect information to find the best Electronic Device for your purpose of use?
- What matters to you when purchasing an Electronic Device?
- How much time do you usually spend to find the cheapest price in the market when you decide on a product to purchase?
- How are you typically notified of deals and sales?
- Have you ever used the “Price Match” option before?
- How often do you do the Price Match option when you buy an Electronic Device?
Research Insights:
In the research process we found out that most of the statistical population prefer to research online to find the best product for their needs, and they buy 4 electronic devices per year on average.
Although it takes an average of 43 minutes that customers to find the right product for themselves, they spend an average of 18 minutes to find the cheapest price for that specific product. At times, they have to monitor sales websites periodically to come across suitable deals. Over 90 percent of our statistical population uses the Google search engine to find the source for buying the product.
At the time of in-store purchase, they mostly don’t use the “Price Match” option because of different reasons such as:
- They are not aware of the "Price Match" option or forget to use it.
- They don’t know of other providers of this product.
- It’s time-consuming to find the product on the competitor’s website at the time of purchase.
StoryBoard:
To find the best and cheapest Electronic Devices for our customers, we decided to design an app in which customers can find the “Cheapest option” in the shortest time possible. The app provides them with ways to search the product from the list of Electronic Devices or scan the UPC barcode of the product in-store.
In addition, the user would be able to compare products on the app. They have access to weekly and seasonal “Deals and offers” from different retailers, get the “Price drop-down” alert for their product wishlist, “Collect Points” across various retailers, and get “Tech Support”, if needed.
UX Research Plan:
To have an ideal app and maximize customers' benefits the below features are picked from all the available options and ideas:
- Sorting products into categories and subcategories to make finding a specific product easier.
- Option for searching the product name or scanning the unique UPC barcode
- Have access to weekly or seasonal sales of different companies without the need to sign up and receive dozens of emails in the mailbox daily.
- Provide features to compare same category products to find the best choice for customers’ purpose of use.
- Have the Wishlist feature as well as activate the Price drop-down alert.
- Adding different companies’ point cards to grant convenient access at the time of purchase.
